Other Curriculum Updates

We have just begun new units of study in science, reading, and writing. In reading and writing, we are working on Non-Fiction. Children will be writing "How-To" books and will also be working on some research. In science, we have been learning about Space and the Night Sky. The children are very excited about this unit! In math, we are finishing up our focus on geometry. Up next is Larger Numbers, Money, and Place Value.

Celebrating Trouble Stories

The children recently finished writing realistic fiction "Trouble Stories." All of the stories had to have hooks to get the reader interested, problems, solutions, and details. We have a very creative bunch of writers! To celebrate the culmination of this unit, the children shared their stories with each other. Each writer also received a special pencil as a reward for his/her hard work.

Upcoming Celebrations

On Monday, February 8th we will be celebrating the 100th day of school. We'll be doing some different activities to understand the number 100. Students are invited to bring in 100 of the same items or to create a collection of 100 at school.

On Monday, February 15th we will celebrate Valentine's Day. Children who wish to exchange cards can do so on that day. We'll also have an ice cream sundae party with Ms. Rogers' class. Please use the wiki at the top of the blog if you would like to sign up for a donation for the party.
